Life is a Journey, Not a Trip

Life is not a trip, it’s a journey. What’s the difference? A trip is predictable. It is going from point A to point B. A journey is an adventure with all sorts of wonderful twists and turns.

When you go on a trip, you plan it out and have an itinerary. You say, “I’m going to visit this tourist spot, eat at this famous restaurant, and take a picture at this location.” You know exactly what you’re going to be doing from moment to moment. There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s a very good way to go on a trip and make the most of it. But it’s not the way life is.

Life is a journey from the moment we are born to the moment we die. During the course of our lives, nothing is set. It is the equivalent to saying “I’m here now and I need to get there. How I make that journey is completely unknown.”

When we embark on a journey, we set out to reach our destination without much of a plan or a set idea of what will happen along the way. There are good things that happen and bad things and everything in between. Things make us happy and things make us sad. We make friends along the way, and sometimes we lose people.

Most of all, a journey changes us. We have no idea where it will take us, even though we know where our destination is. That is exactly how life is, and we should embrace it as such.

Life changes us in so many ways. Sometimes it’s good and others it’s not so good. But when we embrace the journey, we can always learn from whatever happens. Take in every moment and enjoy your journey.
